For all our medical and technological advancement, America earns a failing grade in one subject: Nutrition.

According to the U.S Department of Agriculture, the Standard American Diet is the reason we struggle with obesity, Type 2 Diabetes, heart disease and many cancers. The average American diet is full of processed foods containing added sugars and unhealthy fats.

What we eat is entirely within our control. We can choose not to eat a SAD diet. We can eat whole foods, in forms as close to the earth as possible. Our post-breast cancer bodies will thank us for consuming a Mediterranean-style diet rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes and nuts. There is only benefit to be had – there is no downside to eating healthy foods.
